An equality poster for schools and workplaces

An equality poster sends a clear message that everyone deserves the same respect and the same chances, whatever their background. Schools use equality posters to support their values, behaviour and PSHE teaching, while employers use them to show their commitment to fair treatment and to the Equality Act 2010.

Design 2 – “Equal Rights. Equal Chances.”

Perfectly balanced golden scales on deep plum, with the message fairness for everyone at work. Ideal for offices, meeting rooms and recruitment areas.

Design 3 – “We Are All Equal”

A row of smiling children of different backgrounds and abilities, including a wheelchair user, with the words different, but equal. Made for EYFS and primary classrooms.

Design 4 – “The 9 Protected Characteristics”

A clear grid of the nine protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation. Great for staff rooms, HR noticeboards and training rooms.

Why equality posters matter

Equality is about making sure nobody is treated unfairly because of who they are. Clear, visible posters remind pupils and staff of the standards your organisation expects, help people recognise unfair treatment and show that concerns will be taken seriously. For employers, displaying the protected characteristics also supports staff training and good HR practice.

How to use equality posters

In primary schools, use Design 3 to talk about fairness and how everyone can join in. In secondary schools and colleges, Designs 1 and 4 can introduce PSHE and citizenship lessons on equality law and respect. In workplaces, put Design 4 on HR and staff noticeboards and Design 2 in meeting rooms to reinforce your equality policy.
