A child-friendly online safety poster for young learners
An online safety poster for kids needs to work for children who are only just learning to read. Young children now use tablets, games and video apps from a very early age, so the first online safety messages need to be simple, friendly and easy to remember. These posters use cute characters and short, clear words that children can say back to you.
Each design focuses on one big idea, which makes them ideal for nurseries, EYFS and KS1 classrooms, as well as KS2 pupils who are starting to use devices on their own. They are printed in the UK on thick 260gsm paper with bright, cheerful colour.
Four online safety posters for kids
Choose a design from the Design menu above and the main image switches to show it.
Design 1 – “Be a Wise Owl Online”
A storybook owl in glasses holding a tablet, with the reminder to think before you click. Lovely for reading corners and early years classrooms.
Design 2 – “Only Chat With People You Know”
A colourful crayon-style poster of two friends on video call, explaining that if you don’t know someone in real life, they are a stranger.
Design 3 – “Blast Off to Online Safety!”
A space rocket with three star rules: keep secrets safe, be kind and tell a grown-up. Perfect for KS1 and KS2 classrooms and computing areas.
Design 4 – “Don’t Take the Bait!”
A clever fish swims away from a “Free Games!” hook, teaching children that if something looks too good to be true, they should ask a grown-up first.

How to use online safety posters with children
Read the poster together at carpet time and ask children what the character is doing and why. Turn each message into an action or a short chant, such as pointing to the “tell a grown-up” star, so younger children remember it. Put the poster up beside tablets, interactive whiteboards and computer areas so adults can point to it while children are using devices.
Share the designs with parents at the start of the year or on Safer Internet Day in February, so the same rules are used at home. As children grow, move on to our e-safety poster with four classroom rules, and later our internet safety poster for older pupils. Our SMART rules poster is another favourite with KS1 and KS2 classes.

Frequently Asked Questions
All four designs are written for children aged about 4 to 11, covering nursery, EYFS, KS1 and KS2. They use short messages, bright pictures and friendly characters so even early readers can follow them.
Think before you click, only chat with people you know in real life, keep personal information secret, be kind online, and tell a grown-up if something looks too good to be true or makes you feel worried.
Yes. Many parents put an A4 or A3 poster next to the family computer or games console, and childminders and after-school clubs use them too. The same simple rules work at school and at home.
